Kai-Lung Hui is the Elman Family Professor of Business and Chair Professor of Information Systems, Business Statistics, and Operations Management at HKUST. His research examines the economics of security and privacy, IT policy, FinTech, and electronic commerce.
He is a Distinguished Fellow of the INFORMS Information Systems Society (ISS) and a Fellow of the Association for Information Systems (AIS).
At HKUST, Professor Hui has held a wide range of senior leadership roles, including Acting Dean of Business (2024–2026) and Senior Associate Dean of Business (2021–2024). He currently serves as Associate Provost for Academic Development.
